5. Scrabble
This one is really becoming obsolete now, but for my main mates that don’t rock iphones, like my wife, sisters-in-law, soon-to-be brother-in-law, and several other dudes, this one keeps the games crackin. It’s super slow though, and has been messing up lately, and the chat function is really weak. It does have a built in dictionary and shuffle function though, which is cool. If you ask me though, Words With Friends kills it.
6. Boxcar
Boxcar makes Facebook and TweetDeck push. It also works with tons of other programs, but I just use it for those two. Any Facebook notifications or Twitter DMs or @replys are pushed to me via Boxcar. It throws an alert up to the main screen that tells you the message or comment or whatever. When you view it in Boxcar, you can set it to use your preferred Facebook or Twitter app to respond or comment again or whatever. Also cool.
7. PS Mobile
PS stands for Photoshop and mobile means its on your phone. Dope. This smooth free little baby allows you to crop, rotate, flip, mess with exposure, saturation, tint, or convert your pictures to black & white. It’s also got sketch and soft focus effects, plus tons of cool frame options and other effects. There’s also back and forward buttons that let you cycle through the changes you’ve made, like the history function in the real Photoshop. It’s pretty much the coolest and easiest fee photography app out there. I deleted three other photo apps when I added this.
8. SuperDial
This little daddy is my speed dialer. You can set it to maintain up to 30 contacts, but I only use it for nine. When you open the app, it immediately pops up your list of speed dial contacts via their picture. Just tap the pic and the phone is ringing. Super cool. Super simple.
9. Things
NOTE: This app has recently been replaced by another, much better app called 2Do. Things was ok, but it was a little clunky, and lacked some of the great functionality of 2Do. Things required you to download a separate app on your computer, and then sync to it. 2Do uses your iCal to do list to sync, and if you organize everything based on iCal like I do, you’ll really dig this one. You can set it to send you alerts, emails, or basically any other type of notification. My only complaint is that it does not yet support push, but I bet they will roll it out soon. This is by far the best “To Do” app out there. Get it.
